Bruce primary residence - the most public, well known, and likely to be visited Wayne property - was in Gotham.
It was far from the only one, for many reasons. One of those is the sheer impracticality of being a wolf living their entire life in an urban area, even if that house had extensive grounds.
Bruce loved - worked in, lived in, protected and some nights outright stalked (albeit in fur) the streets of - Gotham, but there was something to be said for a hundred or so acres of woods and a cabin in Maine.
That property had been in the family as long as the Manor. The cabin was much simpler and less improved, though of course still very nice. It was maintained most of the time by locals hired to be groundskeepers, who were given time off (and firm instructions to stay away) when Bruce was there.
He was well away from the cabin, in the decent light of a full moon when he caught the scent of - and then heard - something coming rapidly through the woods. More than one something.
He went from a relaxed trot to a sprint in a matter of seconds.
For one thing, that wasn't a deer and definitely sounds like a chase.
For another, he was a wolf and he did not tolerate trespassing. Something about territory.
